WALKERTOWN — Mrs. Betsy Maurer Aaron, 73, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 3, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Richmond, Va., to William K. and Jane Elizabeth Ellis Maurer.

Mrs. Aaron had retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and was preceded in death by her husband, Moyer Garfield Aaron; two brothers, Billy and Clarence Maurer; and a sister, Bertha Dunlap.

Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Gay Nell and Steve Whiteheart of Walkertown, and Gloria Jean and Billy Triplett, Sue Ann and Danny Vandiver, and Teresa Jane and Robert Childress all of Winston-Salem; three sons, Garland Gray Aaron and wife Holt of South Carolina, Michael Ray Aaron of Winston-Salem and William Patrick Aaron of Walkertown; a sister, Georgia Lewis of Clemmons; a brother, Clyde Maurer of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by the Rev. Frank Shumate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
