O. T. Negus died at the home of H. J. Rice in Searsburg Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1930 at 11 p.m., after an illness of only eleven days. He suffered a shock Friday morning, Oct. 3, but seem to be recovering when he suffered a second shock Monday night from which he failed to rally. Oliver T. Negus was 82 years, 2 months and 5 days of age. He was born in West Dover on the old Gillette place, August 9, 1848, the son of Loren and Emily (Clark) Negus. Besides one daughter and three sons he is survived by five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, also one brother. He was a member of Co. G, 8th Vermont regiment in the Civil War, and was a widower. He was a retired carpenter, having worked at that trade for 45 years prior to coming here where he has spent the last 12 years. He will be greatly missed in this little community where all the people, old and young, have learned to respect him. He was universally known as "Uncle." The face we loved has gone, The voice we loved his stilled; The place made vacant in our home Can never be filled.
