Daughter of Nehemiah "Fiddler" Lee and his third wife Louise, "Aunt Lora" worked as a weaver while keeping house for the Garland family, who willed her their unelectrified house on Lincoln St., Dover-Foxcroft, and their Model A. She drove that car for decades on her way to chop wood or hunt deer for mincemeat pies. Aunt Lora favored a black straw peaked hat, which led some to speculate she might be the "Witch of Dover Foxcroft." --Elizabeth Lee Crosby Simpson
