Kentucky literary and newspaper figure whose best-known work was his poem, "The Moneyless Man." He had attended West Point Military Academy without graduating, served as assistant adjundant general to several Confederate Generals during the Civil War, where he finished with the rank of Major. He published a book of Confederate poetry and edited several Kentucky Newspapers, including the Frankfort Yeoman. He also practiced law and served in state Government. He read Theodore O'Hara's "Bivouac of the Dead" at the ceremonies when his friend O'Hara's monument was dedicated at the Kentucky War Memorial. His own stone near the Chapel at Frankfort Cemetery is nearly illegible.
