Born Nov. 10, 1938, in Manchester, he was the son of Burdette Willis and Doris Irene Anderson Barker. On Aug. 23, 1959, he married Marcia Marie Rust in Burlington. She died Nov. 16, 2008.
Mr. Barker was an estimator and draftsman, was self-employed, and had worked for Sherman Smith & Associates and Universal Contracting. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1957, and from DePaul University in Chicago.
He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Men's Bowling League, Wednesday Night Golf and Southeastern Iowa Builders Association. He was a Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed golf, traveling and handyman work. He especially enjoyed time with family.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelli Bonar of Burlington; one son, Kevin Barker of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; four grandchildren; one sister, Marlo Schulte of Burlington; nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons and his parents.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The body has been cremated.
The memorial service for Mr. Barker will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with Larry Meyers and the Rev. Dean Benton officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington at a later date.
