Melvin Boner, 85, a resident of the Franklin County Nursing Home, Chambersburg, and formerly of Masters Road, Waynesboro, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 1993, in the home. He had been in failing health for the past several years. Born Jan. 19, 1908, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Melinda (Kauffman) Bonner. He was a lifelong resident of Quincy Township. He served in the Conservation Corps camps for a number of years. Mr. Boner was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of High­ways for a number of years. Surviving are three daughters, Goldie A. Shaffer of Mont Alto, and Joyce S. Wildeson and Bertha S. Chilcote, both of Chambersburg; three sons, Bentz T. Bonner of Roxbury, Lawson L. Bonner of Waynes­boro and Willis B. Bonner of Ten­nessee; 22 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ada Cole; and one brother, Cloyd Bonner. He was preceded in death by two sons, Glenn Bonner on Oct. 25, 1983, and Ernest M. Bonner on April 9, 1991, and three sisters. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain, with the Rev. Dr. Mervil Stambaugh officiating. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial con­tributions may be made to the Frank­lin County Nursing Home, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201. Grove Funeral Home, Waynes­boro, is in charge of the arrangments.
