He was a resident of Colorado for 45 yrs, having lived in Ovid for the past 42 yrs. He grew to manhood in Iowa where his father, John Willard Chase was a Methodist minister and Mr. Chase often told of riding the circuit on horseback with his father.

He came to Minnesota when a young man and was married to Carrie E. Leslie, August 24, 1889, at Luverne, MN, who preceded him in death, August 18, 1941. To this union three daughters and two sons were born. One son John L. preceded him in death on May 13, 1938, at Ovid, CO. On November 19, 1946, he was united in marriage to Frances Leslie, sister of Carrie.

Besides his wife, Frances, he leaves to mourn his passing three daughters, Mrs. (Susanna) Blaine Cannady, Ovid, Mrs. (Ruby) James L. Brown, Portland, Ore., Mrs. (Jessie L.)Carl Evans, Chappell, Neb.: one son, Harry N. Chase, Greybull, Wyo.; 17 grandchildren; 18 g-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives & friends.
