- Another old resident of Xenia died this morning in the person of Mr. Harvey Scott Collins. He had lived to the ripe old age of 88 years leading an active life as a carpenter for a great many years in this city and when old age came on retiring from business activities and spending his latter years in peace and quiet. He had been ailing only since last Sunday, having taken a severe cold which had settled on his lungs and in his advanced age and feeble condltion the illness proved fatal. He was confined to his bed but a few days and the end came this morning at 8:20 o'clock at his home, corner of Market and West streets. Mr. Collins was born in Brown county in 1818, and was married at Ripley to Miss Turney, who survives him, together with five children, as follows: Mr. Augustus Collins, the architect, of this city; Wm. Collins, of Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Henry Routsong of Yellow Springs; Mrs. Wm. Harner, wife of the grocer of this city, and Miss Jennie Collins, at home. There Is but one surviving member of his family left, a brother residing in Arkansas. Mr. Collins came to this city about 1852 and worked at the carpenter trade in Xenia until old age made it necessary for him to givo up his work. The funeral service will be held at his late residence on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. The burial will be at Woodland cemetery.
