Second wife of Nathaniel N. Collins and mother of all but 2 of his children.

Nathaniel and Nancy were founding members of the church run by famous abolitionist Rev. John Rankin. Nancy, Nathaniel, and their children were key people helping Rankin with the Underground Railroad helping slaves escape to freedom in Canada. The work of the Collins family is mentioned in many historical records.

Nancy's parents
Father: Rev. Matthew B. Wilson
Mother: Elizabeth Craighead

Part of her ancestry is Irish.

Information about Nancy and her family is from extensive research complied by Nathaniel N. Collins descendants Mary Collins Rhodes and Beth, both also Find-a-Grave contributors.

Two photos of a different Nancy temporarily on this page actually belong to Memorial #2344904 - Nancy Collins Armstrong who married Mr. Armstrong.

Thanks for your work on Find a Grave and uploading images. You uploaded photo and book quote on my ancestor's memorial which actually is the photo of Nancy Collins Armstrong at Memorial #23449040 . The photos and information will be appreciated there. Thanks for removing the incorrect photos from memorial of Nancy (born Wilson) Collins and uploading them to 23449040. Both Nancys are buried in Ripley, Brown County. But from the research of 3 people we know for sure Nancy Wilson Collins is not Mrs. Armstrong. Thank you! I left some tips on my flowers for other Collins family members with reference to the book from which we got the information. You can even download these public domain books free from Google books! Lots of good history available on these families. Appreciatively, Janine
