Beloved husband of Hope, loving father to Barbara Ann and Marilyn, Wally was taken much too soon from his friends and family. The second son of George F. and Margaret Pearl of Montgomery Road in Howard County. He joined with his father and brother as a painter in his father's painting company, George F. Schatz and Sons for many years. In his later years, he worked with his younger brother, Richard at his shop in Sykesville, Md.

Serving in WWII, he entered the service 12/26/1942. at Ft. Meade, Maryland. He served overseas at New Guinea, the Philippines, Iwo Jima, Japan and Australia.

He was a gentle and fun loving, he never took himself too seriously and was the perfect foil for his older brother's more serious view of life.

He is still sorely missed by his family, nieces and nephews. Those born into the family since his passing are poor for having been cheated from the opportunity to know him. He will not be forgotten.
