FATHER PASSED AWAY ON FRIDAY
The body of L.H. Barrows, Civil War Veteran, was interred in LaBelle cemetery, Sunday afternoon.
Levi Henry Barrows, son of Guy and Elvira Barrows, was born January 20, 1843, in Guysville, Athens Co. Ohio and came with his mother to Clark Co. Mo. at the age of 11 where he grew to manhood and lived the greater part of his life. He departed this life, after a lingering illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John D. Moore, of Newark Mo. May 15, 1925 at the age of 82 years, 3 months, 25 days.
He was married to Clarissa Crandall December 23, 1865, who preceded him in death Nov. 13, 1924, at LaBelle.
To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. John D. Moore, of Newark, Mo. and six sons--Abbott Barrows, of Kahoka, Mo.; Guy Barrows of Dallas City, Ill.;Hubert Barrows of San Bernandino, Calif.; Roy Barrows of Cuero, Texas; and two who died in infancy. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one brother, George Barrows of Newark.
He was a veteran of the Civil War and served his country for four years. He was a truly honest man, a useful citizen and a kind neighbor. He was guided by the recognition of truth and right. With his friends and acquaintances he was popular and as a husband and father he was kind and devoted, and was loved by those who really knew him. The funeral was conducted by Rev. A.N. Wilkinson Sunday at 2:00 pm at the home of his daughter Mrs. John D. Moore, and the body was buried in the LaBelle Cemetery. The floral offerings and the large attendance attested of the high esteem in which he was held.

Enrolled in the (Civil War) March 18, 1862; in company C of the 2nd Regiment of Mo. ?M commanded by Col. John McNeal and was honorably discharged at St. Louis, Mo. on the 21st day of March, 1865. He is 5'9" tall and has dark hair, dark complexion, and blue eyes.
