Mr. Anthony Aberson, age 83, of Alton, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, May 7, at 3:00pm, at the Alton Reformed Church in Alton. The Rev. Michael Hardeman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton. Visitation with the family will be the hour before the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Anthony John was born on September 13, 1926, at Alton, the son of Anton and Julia (Scholten) Aberson.

He was raised on the family farm near Alton, where he completed the eighth grade in school.

"Tony" served in the United States Army during peacetime. He then returned to Alton to farm the family homestead.

"Son" was a member of the Alton Reformed Church. He enjoyed going to farm auctions.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Viola Aberson, of Lakefield, Minnesota; four nieces, Marsha Hamre, Lavelle McManimon, Lisa Erickson, and Myra Aberson; and several grandnephews and grandnieces.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Aberson, and sister, Betty Aberson.

Memorials may be directed to a local Humane Society or Animal Shelter or the church.
