Vanita Faye Blair (83) was born in Buffalo Gap, TX on August 26, 1927 and passed away in Oklahoma City on May 8, 2011. She was a devoted wife to Claudis Odell Blair for 52 years until his death in 1997. They loved being together and were practically inseparable. Vanita lived a simple life centered around family and doing simple things like having company over for dinner. She enjoyed Blue Grass music and going to festivals. She and her husband had a small lake place at Lake Texoma which provided, as you can imagine, many family memories that included fish tales. Fishing the lake brought her a sense of peace and joy. Vanita also liked having her hair done every week! She had been a member of Independence Ave. Baptist Church in Oklahoma City until her health prevented her from attending. Vanita is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Bertie Burks; her husband, Claudis; and son, Larry Dell Blair. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Qamoos and husband Jamon, and three grandchildren, Lori Linn and husband Shawn, Chris Qamoos and wife Angie, and Lonnie Blair and wife Katrina. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, Landon, Savannah, Presley, Jeremy, Izaak, Lexi and Ashlyn. Visitation for Mrs. Blair will be 8:30am-8:00pm on Wednesday, May 11th. Services to celebrate Vanita's life will be at 10:00am, Thursday, May 12, at Crawford Family Funeral Service in Edmond with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in OKC.
