Thomas J. Bowman died at his home in Franklin, W.Va., December 29, 1906, at 4
o'clock a.m. in the 60th year of his age.

After appropriate and solemn services in the M.E. Church, South, conducted by
his pastor, Dr. Wagner in the presence of a large assemblage of his friends was
laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery, on Sabbath evening to 30, of December at
3:00 p.m.

Mr. Bowman was born at Mt. Clifton, Shenandoah County, Va. in April 26, 1847.
When 16 years of age, he enlisted in the Confederate Army, Company I, Twenty
third Virginia Regiment, serving until the close of the war.

He removed to our town and has been engaged in the mercantile business ever
since. His financial ability was such high order and his attention to all the
details, his business was so faithful and constant that his marking success was
the logical outcome.

In February 1872, Mr. Bowman married Miss. Hannah Masters, daughter of Judge
H.H. Masters.
