Daughter of Henry Hille Masters

Died, at her home in Franklin, on May 30th, 1909, Mrs. Hannah C. Bowman, nee
Masters, widow of the late T.J. Bowman.

It was the fortune of the writer of this humble tribute of respect to know our
deceased friend. I met her in the long ago, when she and I were in the
springtime of life, when the sky of our young life was bright with the noonday
sun of hope and our pathway strewn with the beautiful flowers of mirth and joy.

Mrs. Bowman was the daughter of the late Judge H.H. Masters, of Franklin, and
lived in her home town until her death.

She is survived by two brothers, Clay and John, now of the state of Texas, and
five children, Gertrude, now Mrs. Preston Boggs, Ernest, Walter, Claud and T.J.
Jr.

They were all at her bedside when the angel of death entered the sacred
precincts of domestic bliss and bore her in his dark vaults in the Great Beyond.

Our friend was attractive in person, beautiful in character, amiable in
disposition, hence was admired and loved by all who were thrown into association
with her. Truly, "None know her but to love her."

But beyond and above all, she was a true and consistent follower of Him, who
though without sin bore the sins of the whole world, and expiated them upon the
ragged steeps of Calvary. And her whole life bore witness of the power, beauty
and efficacy of the Christian religion. It is true she has gone from among us.
No more will we gaze upon her lovely face or hold sweet communion with her.

Grown weary with the sorrow and suffering incident to this subliminal state, she
has fallen to sleep, "Asleep with Jesus, blessed sleep".

But if she be dead, her works they do follow her and will stand as a living
monument to her true womanhood as a daughter, wife, mother, and friend, and
follower of Jesus.

I will not attempt to express sympathy or extend condolence to the bereaved
loved ones who mourn her absence from the family circle.

The wounds are to fresh, and the lacerated hearts are to sore. Feeble words of
human are to weak to reach the depths of those hearts.
