T. J. Stites died on Dec. 9, 1944 at his home 3 miles nw of Akin at the age of 83. He was first married to Belle Cavet and they had one daughter. She died at the age of 5 and his wife died soon afterwards. On Sep 15 1901, he married Lillie Jane VanCleve Burns at New Burnside, Il. They were the parents of 3 children.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Lillian Stites and the following children and step-children; Frank T. and William A. Stites of Waukegan; Mrs. Audrey Stites Neal of Benton; Mr. Ido Burns of Stockton, Ca.; Mrs. Bessie Williams of Akin; and Mrs. Gertie Laurence of Johnston City and Mrs. Grace Browning of Benton and 18 grandchildren.
