John Wallace Reyer Sr., age 68 and a resident of Saucier, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003, in Biloxi.
Mr. Reyer, a retired mechanic, was a native of Waveland and was a lifelong resident of the Coast. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army and was a member of Joe Graham Post #119, American Legion, and was a member of the Holiness Church in Gulfport.
Mr. Reyer was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Snowden Reyer; parents, Wallace and Cecelia Reyer; a son, John Wallace Reyer, Jr.; a brother, Douglas J. Reyer; and three sisters, Josephine Yarborough, Stella Reyer, and Ella Reyer. Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Parker, of Gulfport; Celia Cowart, of Kiln; four brothers, George H. (Betty) Reyer, Robert M. (Millie) Reyer, Sam (Evelyn) Reyer, all of Gulfport; and Charles J. (Louise) Reyer, of McHenry; five sisters, Willie C. Phelps, Naomi Parker, Dorothy Jarrell, Cecelia (Joe) Taylor, all of Gulfport; and Rose Mary (Chester) McKay, of Saucier; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday, November 13, at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, US 49 North, in Gulfport. The funeral will be today at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial at 3:00 p.m. in the National Cemetery in Biloxi.
