Jean E. Brown, 88, formerly of 19 East Main Street, Berryville, VA., died Monday, July 29, 2002, at the Rose Hill Nursing Home.

Mrs. Brown was born August 30, 1913, the daughter of the late Sarah E. Tomblin Furr Bell and James William Furr, and the stepdaughter of the late Charles A. Bell.

She had worked many years at the Clarco Theater and Carr Publishing Company until she retired after 35 years of service.

She was a member of the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Berryville.

She was married to the late John A. Brown on February 12, 1930. Mr. Brown padded away on March 10, 1985.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Francis Hudson of Boyce, a grand-daughter, Jeanne Hudson of Boyce, a grandson, John E. Hudson and his wife, Kathy of Berryville, three great-grand-sons, Zachary Borowsky Hudson of Boyce and Johnathan A. Hudson and Patrick Evan Francis Hudson of Berryville, a sister, Anna Mae Brannon of Winchester and a sister-in-law Rosa C. Brown of Berryville.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2002, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Berryville, with the Rev. William K. Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville.

Pallbearers will be Earl Brown, Jr., William Carpenter, III, Randall Brannon, William Brannon, Gardner Brannon, Thomas Keating, Floyd Hudson, and Dwayne Carpenter.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville.
