Hubert "Mike" Titus, 86, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Blair House Nursing and Rehab Center in Burlington.

Born July 14, 1924 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Clarence and Mary Siloam Titus. He attended Burlington schools. In 1943, he joined the United States Army and was stationed as a medic in England, France, Belgium and Germany during World War II. In 1946, he was honorably discharged and returned to Burlington.

He married the love of his life, Delores Weyrick on August 30, 1947, in Burlington. To this union were born two sons, Michael and Craig.

Mike worked at various companies in the Burlington area and finished his career at IAAP.

Mike enjoyed his family and friends. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Delores; one son, Craig (Kathy) of West Burlington; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his brothers, Lawrence and Edward of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Michael, his parents and one brother.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Monday, May 9th, in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

The funeral service for Mr. Titus will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10th, at Crapo Park near the gun memorial in Burlington with the Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. In case of rain, the funeral service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, rural West Burlington. Following the service, the body will be cremated. Private inurnment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit the Youth Group of Peace Lutheran Church.
