Martin Abraham Blocher, 85, of Rt 1, Elkhart, a retired farmer, died of a heart attack at noon Sunday at his home. He had been a resident of the Wakarusa community for 70 years.

Born July 22, 1866, he was the son of Christian and Susannah (Martin) Blocher.

His wife the former Margaret Wenger, died Aug. 27, 1951.

The survivors include five sons, Arthur, Merle, Ralph, Herman and Charles, all of Elkhart; three daughters, Mrs Orville (Bessie) Canen of Elkhart and Mrs Alph (Grace) Canen and Mrs Arthur (Goldia) Smeltzer, both of Wakarusa; and 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

A prayer service was conducted by the Revs Clarence Shank and D A Yoder at the Lienhart Funeral home at 2 pm Wednesday followed by a service at 2:30 o'clock in the Olive Mennonite Church of which Mr Blocher was a member. Burial was in the Olive Cemetery.
