Mary Irene Cantrell


SIKESTON — Mary Irene Cantrell, 68, died at 1:05 a.m. Nov. 19, 2002, at the Miner Nursing Center.


Born May 5, 1934, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Henry Tony and Maggie Mae English Vaughn, she was a nurse aide at Missouri Delta Medical Center for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Wickliffe, Ky.


On June 10, 1952, at Piggott, Ark., she married Leonard Curtis Cantrell who preceded her in death on March 20, 1985.


Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Cynthia Cantrell of Wickliffe and Lesley and Jenifer Cantrell of Bertrand; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa Caston and Belinda and Rick Gorostiza of Sikeston and Marilyn and Mitchell Pullen of Wyatt; one sister, Evelyn Webb of Dexter; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Five brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.


Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday. Larry Fraser, pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Wickliffe and Billy Harrison, pastor of the North Ballard Missionary Baptist Church in Wickliffe, will officiate.


Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery
