BORDELON'S YOUTH FUNERAL HELD

Funeral services for 11 year old Malcolm Bordelon, believed to be a rabies victim, were conducted Tuesday in Marksville.
The boy and his younger sister were the only victims of the Clinton Bordelon family, 2426 Arts, who had not been taking rabies injections since the family's pet cat had been found to rabid 10 days ago. The two children said they had not been bitten.
A Charity hospital physician said Monday that Malcolm might have been bitten by some other rabid animal since it usually takes from six weeks to two months for a person to develop the disease. The Bordelon cat had been dead less than two weeks.
Malcolm died early Monday at Charity hospital after a four day illness. Miscroscopic analysis of autopsy findings are not complete, but the Orleans Parish coroner's office said that all indications are that the child died from rabies.
Four year old Foster Desselles Jr., 1411 St. Anthony, who visited in the Bordelon home seven weeks ago, was undergoing examinations at Charity hospital Tuesday. The boy's mother feared he might have come in contact with the Bordelon's cat.
