"Elise Baehr, 86, of 115 Bates-Amasa Rd., died Oct. 20 at Crystal Falls Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 13, 1902, in BatesTownship, the daughter of Nels and Edla Hanson. She attended local schools and resided most of her life in Bates Township. On Aug. 22, 1927, she married Albert H. Baehr, and he preceded her in death on July 21 of this year. She is survived by four daughters, June Thunander of Tavares, Fla., Patricia Nivilinszky of Chicago, Ill., Janet Losee of Glen Cove, N.Y., and Carol Sertich of Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, Robert Willis of Bates Township, Richard Baehr of Hibbing, Minn., and Walter Baehr of Brown Deer, Wis.; two sisters, Amelia Erickson of Bates Township and Ellen Hookenson of Crystal Falls; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Willis, who was killed in action in Iwo Jima in February 1945. There was no visitation. Private funeral services were held Oct. 22 at the Brooks-Langenberg Funeral Home in Iron River with the Rev. Clayton Parcels, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Special music selections were "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Burial was in Bates Township Cemetery."
