"A.K. 'Jim' Nelson, Jr. of Austin, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at the age of 81. A lifelong resident of Austin, Jim loved gardening, fishing and music. He served in the U.S. Army and was a WWII Vet. He was the President of Reagan High School Booster Club and was involved in little league baseball. He was also a member of Decker United Methodist Church. Retired from the U.S. Postal service after 38 years, he enjoyed being a loyal Longhorn fan and was well known at Disch-Faulk field as 'Gramps.' He was also very proud of being an Austin High School graduate. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Courtney Janicek. He is survived by his wife, Joan Nelson; daughter, Vicki Taylor; son, Randy Nelson and wife, Amy; daughter, Janet Janicek and husband, Gig; grandsons, Chad, Cody and Colton Janicek, and Trevor, Clay and Daniel Taylor...."
