Jan Denise (Kigar) Hill died of a heart attack on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Saugatuck, Michigan, her home for the past 10 years.
She is survived by her beloved only child: Jenny Renee Jeltes, of Chicago; sisters: Donna Lee Costanzo and spouse Dan of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jean Engel and spouse Charles of Beverly Hills, California, and Mary Jo (Kigar) Hillman and Al Nearing of Gladwin,As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her adored cat, Angel, also survives her.
Jan was born on September 8th, 1955 in Gladwin, Michigan. She graduated from Gladwin High School and lived in Gladwin for approximately five years working as a dental assistant after graduating with and Associate's degree from Ferris State University. She briefly lived in Chicago before returning back to Michigan and moving to Grand Rapids where she raised her daughter and operated a home daycare.
Thereafter, Jan moved to Holland then Saugatuck, respectively.She was most proud to be the mother of Jenny, a graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State Law School who currently has her own law practice in Chicago.
Jan's family will remember her for her keen sense of humor, infectious laugh, and caring kindness towards others. Jan loved felines, rock and roll, and the company of loving family and friends.
Her parents, Ethel and Donald Kigar, as well as her brother, Bill Kigar, of Gladwin preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted April 5, 2011 at Hall- Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. She was laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, Gladwin, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family Is accepting donations to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI is a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to awareness, education, and advocacy.
