Martin Humphrey Died Tuesday
Martin Humphrey, one of the well known and highly respected citizens of Hurdland died at the home of his son Dr. B. F. Humphrey Tuesday afternoon after an illness of a few days from paralysis. The following short sketch of his life is furnished us by one of his sons, Rev. G. W. Humphrey.
Martin Humphrey was born Nov. 26, 1842, died Jan. 22, 1918, aged 75 years, 1 month, 26 days.
He was married to Martha Ann Funk, Feb. 7, 1864. To this union eleven children were born, nine of whom still live.
He professed faith in Christ and united with the Rock Creek Baptist Church, about thirty years ago — filling the offices of Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
His wife preceded him in death about one year.
His life was one of faithfulness, uprightness and of large service.
The funeral will be preached this afternoon at two o'clock at the Baptist Church in Hurdland by Rev. McKerney of LaGrange. Burial in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
