Claude Jackson Gasque Jr. was born on March 28th, 1915, in Florence, South Carolina, the son of Bessie Aycock and Claude Jackson Gasque.

He served as an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve during the Second World War, and was killed in action while on the deck of the cruiser U.S.S. Quincy on August 9th, 1942, at the Battle of Guadalcanal.
