A. Russell Collins, 69, passed away Wednesday morning at 12:15 a.m. at the Elmhurst hospital in Angola. Death was due to a 15 year illness of emphysema. He was born in Millgrove township in Steuben county and lived in Hudson the past 28 years. He was a retired rural route mail carrier having served as a mail carrier for about 30 years.

In 1914, he was married to Dena Willer, who preceded him in death in 1928. On March 2, 1935 he was married to Maxine Stuck Adams, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Johnston of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Mrs. Shirley Jean Lynn of Concord, Calif.: two sons, Albert J. Collins of Toledo, Ohio and Samuel Adams of Cassopolis, Mich.: two brothers, Albertus B. Collins of Orland and Cleveland C. Collins of Kendallville; two sisters, Mrs. Floiad Carlisle of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Rachel Bair of Auburn; ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. Collins was a member of the Hudson Methodist church and the Hiawatha Lodge No. 528 F. & A. M., the Angola Chapter No. 528 R. & A. M., the Angola Council No. 27 R. & S. M., the Angola Commandery No. 45 Knights Templar and the K.Y.C.H. Indiana Priory No. 8; the Indiana Council of Annointeed High Priests, the Hudson Chapter No. 373 O. E. S. and the Mary Martha Shrine No. 5 of Kendallville.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hudson Methodist church. Interment was at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Orland. Hiawatha Lodge No. 528 F. & A. M. held twilight services at the Kistler Funeral Home in Hudson at 8:00 p.m. Friday.
