Mary Ortman Gross was born February 13, 1908 to Jacob and Frennie Graber Ensz. She was baptized by Rev. Jacob A. Tieszen and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church.
On Februrary 12, 1926 she was united in marriage to Elias Ortman. To this union four children were born, Robert, Eugene, Betty and Larry. Elias passed away on October 8, 1960.
On April 30, 1965 she married George Gross.
Mary entered the Tieszen Memorial Home in 1986 were she passed away on March 16, 1992 attaining the age of 84 years, 1 month and 3 days.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elias, her parents, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her children, Robert and Eugene of Sioux Falls, (Betty) Mrs. Orval Lambertz of Canistota, and Larry of Phoenix, Arizona; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren; 2 step great-great-grandchildren; one brother John Ensz of Marion; two sisters (Martha) Mrs. Dan Ortman of Marion and (Luella) Mrs. Abe Wiens of Canistota.
