I, Susanah Townsend certify that at seventeen years of age I was married to John Stephens by which I have five children and that my husband the said Stephens was killed by the Indians three years after which time I was married to Thomas Townsend on the 16th day of December before the siege of Charleston it being ten years from the time I was married to Mr Stephens until I was married to Mr Townsend makes my age about 95 I have no documentary of my age or marriage but from events arrive at dates
