Archaeologist, Author. In 1896 he became national history editor for the "Webster's International Dictionary." In 1902 he invented the auto-chrome process of natural-color photography. An accomplished explorer and archaeologist, he traveled to the West Indies, British Guyana and Central America. He wrote many books on different subjects including, natural history, whaling, travel and radio. His books include, "The Bridge Of Light" (1950), "When The Moon Ran Wild" (1962), "The Real Story Of The Whaler" (1916) and "Great Conquerors of South And Central America" (1929).
