Officer Michael Carriere, DSN 7841, was commissioned a Police Officer with the Saint Louis Police Metropolitan Department on 07/13/1970. Upon graduation he spent time in the 2Nd and 4Th Districts before he was transferred to the Juvenile Division. He remained there from 03/04/1974 until he retired on 08/02/1993. He served a total of 23.06 years of service. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy having served from 10/01/1960 to 10/01/1964 and attained the rank of Petty Officer 3Rd Class.

Michael Joseph "Mike" Carriere of Doe Run passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the age of 67 years. He was born on September 29, 1943, at Crookston, MN, son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Tischart) Carriere. Mike grew up in Red Lake Falls, MN, where he attended school.

On October 13, 1960. he enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on October of 1964.

In April of 1966 he moved to St. Louis where he met his bride of 43 years, Judith Ann Cobb. In 1970 Mike joined the St. Louis Police Department where he served until his retirement in 1993.

In July of 2003 Mike and Judy retired to the wilderness outside of Doe Run where they enjoyed wildlife and country living. He was a former commander for the St. Louis Post 187 of the American Legion and was currently a member of the Post 416 of the Farmington American Legion.

In addition to his wife Judy survivors include two children, Daniel Carriere and wife, Danelle of High Ridge and Renee (Mrs. Derek) Bishop of Doe Run; sister, Jean (Mrs. Tom) Roi of Duluth, MN; two brothers, David Carriere and wife, Jeannine of Missoula, MT, and Allan Carriere and wife Patsy of Polson, MT; six grandchildren, Devin, James, Keagan, Jessica, Chloe and Brandon and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many other friends.

The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Father James Dyer officiating.
