Vivian L. Bennett, 89, of Lebanon, died at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. Vivian was born to the late Frank and Harriett Roberts Inman; she was reared and educated in southern Indiana. The Bennett family moved to Lebanon in 1953. On June 25, 1938 she married the late Riley Bennett, a marriage that lasted over 70 years. Vivian worked for the McCain family and then the Hinkle family as a cashier at the Lebanon IGA for 30 years having retired in 1988. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Lebanon for 58 years where she was very active. She is survived by her children, Larry (Sandy) Bennett of Lebanon, Connie (Ralph) Hughes of Delphi, Janet Davis of Novato, California and Nina (Robert) Hale of Burkesville, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her very special friend, Jeannie Brandenburg. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and a grandson, Matthew Hale. Family and friends will gather on Sunday, May 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Funeral service will be on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary. Mrs. Bennett will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
