The original inhabitant of the property that became Greenwood Cemetery, he bought land in 1837 when he moved west from Lancaster County PA. He died in O'Hara Township of apoplexy and was buried at Allegheny Cemetery on November 14, 1867. Later he and other members of his family were re-interred, being removed to Greenwood on March 17, 1892. He was a farmer, and was responsible for the construction of the current Greenwood Cemetery house in 1838.
