Vester G. Hicks, 71, of the Cottonwood community, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning. Funeral services have been arranged for 10:30 o'clock this (Friday) morning at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. M.S. Lloyd officiating. Other details were not immediately available.
Mr. Hicks was the father of the late Rev. John Henry Hicks and Mrs. Annie Bruton of Caruthersville. He is also survived by his widow, Mrs. Dora Hicks.

Funeral services for Vester Glenn Hicks, 71, of Cottonwood, who died on December 13, was held last Friday morning in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. M.S. Lloyd officiating.
Mr. Hicks was born in Dyer county, Tenn. on July 13, 1890, the son of the late John and Ida Hicks. He moved with his parents to Pemiscot county in 1909 and spent the rest of his life here, having engaged in farming until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dora Hicks, to who he was married on January 20, 1959; two sons, the Rev. John Henry Hicks of Cottonwood and Bill Hicks of Nashville; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Blurton, of Cottonwood; and five brothers, three sisters and four grandchildren.
Burial was in Maple cemetery.
