Harry E. Brierly, 70, of 415 Reidmore Road, South Connellsville, died Tuesday afternoon at Connellsville State General Hospital. He was born July 11, 1906, in South Connellsville, a son of the late Charles E. and Elizabeth Caldwell Brierly. He was a lifelong resident of South Connellsville and was a retired employee of the Fayette Furnace Company, where he was a furnace installer. He was a former employee of the Farmers Dairy and was also a master die sterrer for Anchor Hocking Corp. He was the present Chief of South Connellsville Fire Department, where he was a member for 40 years. He was the former chief fire police of the fire department, a social member of the Slovak Club and a member of the Connellsville Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife, Elva K. Lytle Brierly; three sons, Edward F., at home; M-Sgt. Gene Brierly with the U.S. Army Air Force at Bedford, Mass.; and Sgt. Lee A. Brierly of Kensington, MD; one daughter, Miss Gayle M. Brierly, at home; four grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond E. of Quinton, N.J. and William F. of Kentucky, and one sister, Mrs. Daisy M. Trump of South Connellsville. He was predeceased by one daughter, Betty L.; one son, Raymond D.; one brother, Charles, and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Wiltrout. December 28, 1976 [no source noted]
