Lemont Furnace - Edward Franklin Brierly, 72, of Lemont Furnace, passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 25, 2005, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Connellsfville, the son of the late Harry Brierly and Elva Lytle Brierly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Brierly, and sister, Betty Brierly. Edward was a member of the South Connellsville Volunteer Fire Department serving as a fireman and EMT for 24 years and member of the Green wood Heights Church of God in Connellsville for the past 20 years. He was an avid sports fan, he truly enjoyed fishing and piloting airplanes. A U.S. veteran serving in the Marine Corps, he was a lance corporal serving one year in Korea. Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Stenger Mazurek Brierly; brothers, Gene N. Brierly and his wife, Bernice of Leesburg, Fla., Lee A. Brierly and his wife, Anne, of Kensington, Md.; a sister, Gayle Mae Holt, of Connellsville; and nieces and nephews, Michael Holt, Gene N. Brierly, Jr., Connie J. Wagle, Jamie Brierly, Audrey Brierly and Lee Carter Brierly. Friends will be received in the Stephen E. Kezmarsky III Funeral Home, 71 Pennsylvania Ave., Uniontown, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m in the Greenwood Heights Church of God, Connellsville. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Evelyn Stillwagon officiating. Interment follows in Green Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
