Elizabeth Davenport was the daughter of Abraham Davenport, she married Arthur Conwell May 22 1781. This was her second marriage. At the time she was Elizabeth Boswell. It is the ancestry of Arthur that is the mystery. He appears to have been born in 1751, for he was 25 in 1776. He took the oath in Calvert County, Maryland in 1778 along with John, Joseph, Stephen, William and Yeates Conwell. He appears to have served in both Maryland and Virginia militias. he was in Capt. Walter Smith's company, Calvert Co. militia. In Virginia, he served as well as did John, Stephen, Richard and William.

Elizabeth Davenports Great Granddaughter, Sara Louisa Beal Beatty wrote a letter about her great grandparents, and I refer to her notes: This is just a brief summary of what she wrote about Elizabeth Davenport and John Conwell her great grand parents. She say's that Elizabeth Davenport Conwell was among the first in Greene County, Ohio to pay taxes, and that she and John Conwell are buried in Massie Creek Cemetery, Greene County, Ohio and that Elizabeth's father was Abraham Davenport. We know that Elizabeth Conwell is buried in Stevenson Cemetery, and that John Conwell is not buried in Steveson Cemetery.

Letter was written by Sara Louisa Beatty (date written 1859.)
Information From the Greene County, Ohio, Archives.
