Funeral Services for Betty Odom Wood, 57, of Cross Roads and formerly of Jacksonville, were held at 2:00 PM Monday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, with Dr. Mickey Williams and Rev. Ron Huckabee officiating.

Burial was in Fincastle Cemetery near Poyner.

Mrs. Wood died Saturday in East Texas Medical Center in Athens.

She was born July 18, 1939 in Jacksonville to the late Benjamin "Buddy" Franklin and Nora Belle Smith Odom. She had been a resident of Jacksonville most of her life and had resided in Henderson County the past three years.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Sue Wood and a son, Elton Ray Wood.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin J. Wood of Cross Roads, four sons, Joe Dewayne Wood of Lake Palestine, Jeffery Dale Wood of Cross Roads, Billy Jack Wood of Cross Roads, and David Junior Wood of Tyler; two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Jane Wood of Cross Roads and Donna L. and Bobby Essex of Dallas; one sister, Dorothy Frances Scruggs of Jacksonville; two brothers, Benjamin F. Odom of Jacksonville and Nolan Ray Odom of Tyler, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers were William Wood, Charles Samples, Billy Stemm, Kevin Long, Freddy D. Carlile, and Nolan Ray Odom, Jr.
