Maggie Van Kley was born January 15, 1889 at South Holland, Illinois. In December, 1913 she married Ralph Achterhof at Sioux Center. They had four children: Lawrence, Florence, Floyd and Eugene. Ralph died on November 18, 1957.

Maggie Achterhof (nee Van Kley) passed away Thursday in Sioux Center at the age of one hundred and two years. On December 24, 1913 in Sious Center, she was united in marriage to Ralph Achterhof who preceded her in death on November 18, 1957. She is survived by three sons; Lawrence of Sioux Center, Iowa; Floyd of Sioux Center, Iowa; and Eugene of Camden, Maine; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Florence, at one month's age; two sisters and four brothers.

Maggie had a great love for flowers and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Blessed be her memory.

Maggie Achterhof, 102, died Thursday, October 3, at Sioux Center Hospital.

Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 6, at Vander Ploeg Chapel in Sioux Center with the Rev. Harold Lenters and the Rev. Mark DeWitt officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
