Funeral services for Otha A Sweet, 67, former State Center Town Marshall, were held here Saturday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church in charge of the Rev Charles B Willming. Interment was in Hillside cemetery.

Mr Sweet died early Thursday morning of a heart attack.

Otha A Sweet was born February 29, 1884 in Toledo, Illinois, where he grew up and obtained his education. He came to Iowa in 1916 and was employed in the Ford garage as a mechanic; later owning and operating the business.

He was united in marriage to Lena Wilkening on November 28, 1918 in State Center. They made their home here together until the death of Mrs Sweet on January 30, 1945. Mr Sweet continued to reside in State Center until the time of his death.

He served for several years on the City Council and in 1921 he was appointed Town Marshall; and served in that capacity until her retired last July.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs Merle Hokel of West Union and Mrs Richard Buschman of Zearing; and one son, Kenneth Sweet of Marshalltown. Also surviving are six grandchildren.
