LEWISBURG--Carol Kribbs Coder, 89, of 221 S. 12th St., Lewisburg, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital Emergency Room, Lewisburg.
Born Sept. 30, 1920, in Clarion, she was a daughter of the late Merle and Miriam (Ballentine) Haskell.
On June 2, 1939, she married Benton A. Kribbs, who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1968.
On March 26, 1976, she married Charles H. Coder, who survives.
A graduate of Clarion High School, she attended Clarion State Teacher's College.
In her early years of marriage she was a housewife and mother to three sons.
In 1955 she began a career as a secretary at Bucknell University, working first in the Admissions Office and later in the Office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences. In 1989, she retired after 34 years of service.
She enjoyed family.
In addition to her second husband, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sharon Kribbs of Lewisburg, William and Janice Kribbs of Camp Hill and Jack and Kerry Kribbs of Salisbury, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Lynn Miller of Laurel, Md. and Susan Leirer of Pleasanton, Calif.; six grandchildren from the Kribbs families, Gretchen Holly of Mundelein, Ill., Scott Kribbs of North Carolina, Ross Kribbs of Aspen, Colo., Carolyn Kribbs of Alexandria, Va. and Benton and Jenny Kribbs of Salisbury, N.C.; four grandchildren from the Coder families, Jennifer Leirer of Pleasanton, Calif., Kris Schasker of Livermore, Calif., Kris Covert, of Laurel, Md. and Rachel Forame of Laurel Md.; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Marcella Haskell of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nancy Tharan of Knox and Betty Laddin of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; a cousin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle Jr. in 1962 and John Porter (Poe) in 2000, and a sister-in-law, Sarah Bullers in 2007.
Friends will be received from noon to 1 today at Rooke Chapel on the Bucknell University campus, followed by a service celebrating her life at 1, officiated by Rev. James C. King, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg. A private interment service will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Bucknell University Bison Club, South Ward Building, Lewisburg, Pa. 17837.
Arrangements are under the care of the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
