He served as State Architect and Engineer about 1943 to 1944 in the administration of Governor John W. Bricker.
After leaving state service, he was a partner with the father and son team of Charles L. and C. Curtiss Inscho at the firm of Inscho, Brand & Inscho in Columbus.
Brand was a member of the American Institute of Architects beginning in 1942, and served as vice president of the Columbus Chapter from 1944 to 1945.
