Alice called her "Grandmother"
Everyone else called her "Mammy"

Ada lived by herself the rest of her life. Ada owned three houses and a little acreage off the Crosett Road on Louisiana Lane. She rented the houses and worked at the paper mill. She owned her own car and drove herself.
Florene Cheshire (daughter of Flora) lived with her since Flora's husband, Fred, could not accept a child from a previous marriage.

Ada went to the Pentecostal Church. Wore high collars and long sleeves even during the summer. Kept cokes around for the kids. Ears had been pierced and always wore little bird earrings given to her by Aunt Sadie (Ada's youngest daughter).

Told to Bonnie by Alice Yeldell Sisson, daughter of Flora.

Just found Great Grandmother Ada on the 1940 Census. She lived alone at 133 Louisiana Lane (4th house on the left). House is valued at $250. On April 1 in 1940 she was 64 years old and listed H1 as her education level. Enumeration District 34-4 page 10. Her land was bought up by the Bastrop Paper Mill. Louisiana Street is no longer a through street.
