Jerome J. Fox, 93, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26th, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Shane Deman officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, with Military Rites, in Templeton, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, where there will be a vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife Marion of Stratford; children, Mary Ellen Osborn and her husband Gary of Minneapolis, MN; Katherine Ann Hamilton and her husband Tom of Greer, SC; Jerome Fox of Iowa City; Helen Marie Fox of Blair, NE; Joe Fox and his wife Kathi of Grimes; Lora Lee Frank of Richland; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and his sister, Beatrice Sullivan of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mayme (Rolphes) Fox.
Jerome J. Fox was born on August 31, 1917 in Templeton, IA. He attended schools there and graduated high school. He then graduated with his B.S. in Industrial Education from Iowa State University. Jerry enlisted with the U.S. Marines and later the Army Air Corp serving for 6 years during and after WWII until his honorable discharge.
On September 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Marion L. Hillyard in Wellington, MO. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Jerry was the automotive instructor at Iowa Central Community College for a number of years and later was an instructor at Farm Power.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
