James Avery Holston started the Hawkins County Telephone with J. B. Hill in 1882 which lasted for two and a half years then became the Holston Review.About 1885 the name was changed to Rogersville Review which is still published today.In 1886, Mr Holston started the Rogersville Herald, which ran for 50 years without a break.Mr Holston was one of the oldest publishers in East Tennessee and holds the record for continuous publication of a newspaper.The son of Henry and Mary Jane Holston and a member of the Rogersville Methodist Church,he married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ann Pierce in Rogersville on 26 April 1883.James and "LIzzie" had ten children: Robert Edwin,Annie May,Clifton Stanton, Ina Adeline,William Avery,James Pierce,Mary Elizabeth "Bessie", John Worley,Alfred Jackson and Laura Francis Holston.
