James was quite a guy and worked hard all his life. Served in World War I with his brothers, Mike and Thomas Flynn.
He grew a Victory Garden for years and shared with family and friends. He watched out for my Grandma Robbina Flynn after Grandad Thomas passed away. I remember fondly how during the summer months he'd come down to her house on Steuben Street and mow her grass with an old rotary mower. She had one of the nicest lawns on the block.

I always called my Uncle Old Uncle Jim since I also had a Young Uncle Jim. Old Uncle Jim never seemed to take offense. I miss him./jdb

Although his stone bears the year of birth as 1889 he was actually born in 1888 per his WWI registration written in his own hand.
