He was born in Bartlettsville, Ind., the son of A.L. and Martha Covey Bartlett and came to Muncie in 1931. Prior to coming here, he had been assistant manager of Prudential in Bedford, Ind., and District Manager in Lexington, Ky. He came to Muncie as District Manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1954.
He was an active member of Hazelwood Christian Church, a member of the YMCA Board 15 years, ten of which he was president, a member of the state and national boards of the YMCA, a member of Muncie Lodge of Masons 433, and a member of Life Underwriters Association. Mr. Bartlett was also a member and past president of the Muncie Kiwanis Club, and a charter member and past president of the Bedford Kiwanis Club. For many years he was active in the United Fund, was formerly a member of the Board of Delaware County Tuberculosis Association, of which for many years he was Chairman of the Christmas Seal Committee, and during most of his stay here was a member of Delaware County Boy Scout Council.
Services will be held at the Meeks Mortuary at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Robert G. Sulanke officiating. Interment will follow in Elm Ridge. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 and 7 to 0 p.m. Monday and prior to the services Tuesday.
