Phillips
Mrs. Emma Stone Ivester Phillips, 60, wife of Mr. W. M. Phillips of the Toccoa Creek Church Community died late Monday in the Stephens County Hospital after two years of declining health. Mrs. Phillips was born in Oconee County, SC, January 16, 1903 a daughter of the late Mr. Lewis J. Stone and Mrs. Georgia Whitfield Stone and had lived in Toccoa for the past twenty-two years. She was a member of the Toccoa Creek Baptist Church and a member of the ladies Sunday School class. She was first married to George Ivester who died in 1950 and later married W. M. Phillips who survives her.
Other survivors include two sons; Claude Ivester of Toccoa; Sgt. Delbert Ivester of Jacksonville, Florida; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Rider of Toccoa; two step sons, McKinley Phillips of Marietta, Georgia; Wiley D. Phillips of Toccoa; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mack Stowe of Douglasville, Ga.; one brother, Ed Stowe of Chester, Pa.; five sisters, Miss Callie Stone, Mrs. Issaac Adams, and Mrs. Paul Holbrook all of Madison, SC; Mrs. Hoyt Dooley of Toccoa; Mrs. Horace Moore of Westminster, SC; thirteen grandchildren; one grandson and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday at three o'clock from the Toccoa Creek Baptist Church with her pastor, Rev. Gene Powers and the Rev. Harbin Sanders officiating.
Burial was in the Old Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers, Namon Ivester, J. P. Grafton, Aubry Grafton, Mack Stowe, Charles Moore, and James Hallford.
