Margaret Stanton Knauth, 78, a resident at Sycamore Manor Health Center in Montoursville, formerly of Manhattan, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010.

She was born Nov. 15, 1931, the daughter of the late, William and Grace Patterson Stanton, who had their roots in Mount Carmel and Butler, Pa.

Margaret was married to Christopher Rutgers Knauth. They were divorced about 1968 in New York. Margaret never remarried.

Margaret was an artist, sculptor, poet, and writer of short stories. She had also worked as a legal secretary.

Margaret is survived by her children, Geoffrey Stanton Knauth, of Williamsport, and Susan Williams Ellis, of Chantilly, Va., and by her four grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her late brother, William (Billy) and by her late three sisters, Mary, Dodie, and Catherine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 12 Noon, on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Rev. Andrew M. France, Jr., will officiate.

Margaret's urn will be buried at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Sycamore Manor Health Center, 1445 Sycamore Road, Montoursville, PA 17754-9519.

Arrangements are being directed by the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport.
